Vitex (Agnus castus) is a small tree, quite common in the Greek countryside. It grows in low altitudes and coastal areas. It has flexible lanceolate branches and lilac flowers, arranged in a conical shape. Wicker essential oil is produced from the plant known since antiquity with the Latin name, Agnus – Castus, which comes from the Greek word agnos (αγνός). This name is due to the effect it has on the female hormonal system, something that was discovered by the ancient Greek doctors.

Vitex essential oi has healing properties in terms of hormonal function of the reproductive organs. Specifically, it affects the hypothalamus and the pituitary gland, structures of the brain that regulate the production of hormones in the body. Safe use – How to use it

As a helpful sleep aid, create a sachet by placing 1 or 2 drops of Vitex Oil on a soft square of flannel and tuck the sachet into the bottom of your pillow before bedtime. For a similar effect, a few drops can be added to a bedroom diffuser.

For the treatment of gynecological problems, massages in the lower part of the abdomen are recommended with drops of Wicker essential oil (at a rate of 2.0%), mixed with a base oil, eg almond oil. It usually takes three menstrual cycles for the plant to work effectively. Its effect is strong, so it should not be used during pregnancy, or in conjunction with other medications for hormonal disorders, without the advice of your doctor or pharmacist.
