Lavandula angustifolia belongs to the family of Labiatae or Lamiaceae and is a species within the genus of lavenders. It differs, however, from the commonly known lavenders due to its high quality of lavender oils , this is the reason it laso called the True Lavender.

Therapeutic properties:

The decoction (tea) is a mild natural sedative, useful for treating anxiety, insomnia, irritability, and migraines.

The essential oil contained in the flowers is used in perfumery as well as in the treatment of insomnia. A warm bath with a little lavender oil promises a deep and restful sleep at night. A little lavender essential oil in a massage oil relaxes the muscles and cleanses the head from worries.

It also has antiseptic properties and is used to heal wounds, swelling, sprains, dislocations and fractures.

Preparation:

As a decoction, pour 1 tablespoon of dried flowers in a cup of boiling water for 5 minutes.

Remember: Herbs are not a substitute for medicine. For their best and safe use it is better to consult your doctor.
