Astragalus propinquus commonly known as Mongolian milkvetch in English is a flowering plant in the family Fabaceae.
The name Astragalus is Greek, an old name for this group of plants which were believed to have a positive effect on goat milk production.
Astragalus root is one of the 50 fundamental Chinese herbs and it has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries.
