Description:
The scientific name of the herb is Epilobium Angustifolium and it belongs to the Onagraceae family which contains about 197 species.
Epilobium is a small flowering herb that grows wild in Europe,Asia and South America. It is a vigorous plant, reaching 70 cm. It has thin green, lanceolate leaves with wavy edges.
It produces a small pink or white flower with four petals. There are different varieties of the herb, but the ones that have healing properties are the varieties that produce very small flowers.
Its flowers open from June to September and this is the season when we collect it.
The main use of Epilobium by humans is as a herbal supplement in the treatment of prostate and bladder.It also benefits from diarrhea and incontinence.
The action of epilobium is anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial.
Making tea:
Pour 1-2 teaspoons in a cup of hot water, soak it for 7-10 minutes, drain and drink.
